INTEGRATED CADASTRAL INFORMATION SOCIETY (ICIS) DATA

Through our data sharing agreement with Integrated Cadastral Information Society (ICIS), Population Data BC is now authorized to provide Researchers* with one-stop access to the best available cadastral data in BC, providing new and exciting research opportunities for population-based research.

ICIS data can be used on their own or linked with other Population Data BC holdings.

Address point data

The ICIS address point dataset provides accurate location information for buildings throughout the province of British Columbia.

The dataset is compiled and updated from BC municipalities on a regular basis. The advantage of the address point dataset, in comparison to a regular cadastral dataset, where points representing each address are located at the centre of the cadastral polygon (centroid), is that the address point dataset represents the location of the building within the lot. This provides much greater residential location accuracy, especially in rural areas where lots are large in size and houses are not typically in the center of the lot.

While the address point dataset can be linked to core data using the postal code for each address, the dataset’s real value lies in its ability to provide the coordinates for the address.
