Management and governance change at PopData

After 11 years as Executive Director of Population Data BC, Nancy Meagher will be leaving the organization at the end of April, 2016.

Everyone at PopData, past and present, recognizes what an enormous contribution Nancy has made to the organization. Nancy was at the helm of PopData at its inception as the Population Health and Learning Observatory, and through its transition to PopData in 2008. Over the years PopData has developed into a nationally and internationally recognized leader in data access and linkage for research.

“Nancy Meagher has been the heartbeat of PopData for the last decade” says Advisory Board member Michael Hayes. “Her commitment to the organization, and to the broader vision of improved health outcomes and better policy decisions based on the analysis of administrative data, has been unwavering. She will be sorely missed.”

As an organization we are taking this opportunity to implement a change in the leadership structure which we believe will better position PopData for the future. Instead of a single Executive Director, we plan to have a Scientific Director, who oversees the organization and focuses on external relationships and strategy, and a Managing Director who is responsible for internal operations.

In addition to the changes in management, an Interim Advisory Board will assume the oversight responsibilities once held by the Advisory Board and the Governance and Oversight Committee, until a more permanent structure is developed.

We’d like to acknowledge and thank each and every prior member of our Advisory Board and Governance Oversight Committee, all of whom contributed greatly to our establishment and growth.
