Analysis of Accelerated Integrated Primary and Community Care Data
Overall objective: Produce quantitative empirical analyses of the effects to date of the aIPCC initiatives on health care service use.
Research Question 1: How has healthcare utilization changed as a result of the programs?
Hypothesis: Healthcare utilization rates decrease after the introduction of the aIPCC initiatives.
Research Question 2: For which types of healthcare services has it changed?
Hypothesis: Emergency department visits, hospitalization rates (all cause, non-elective through ED, ACSC, 30-day readmissions, total days in acute, total days in ALC), admission to long-term care and total cost per patient decrease after the introduction of the aIPCC initiatives.
Research Question 3: Has aIPCC achieved reduced emergency department visits, hospitalization and length of stay?
Hypothesis: Emergency department visits, hospitalizations and length of stay decrease after the introduction of aIPCC initiatives.
Research Question 4: How do associated health care expenditures compare between program participants and the control group?
Hypothesis: After the introduction of the aIPCC initiatives, associated health care expenditures are less for program participants compared to the control group.
