Research objective:

Much of the antibiotic consumption for infections in British Columbia will be considered inappropriate, particularly for respiratory tract infections.

We will use administrative data from 2013 to 2016, to report on trends in antibiotic use and determine their appropriateness for various infections.

To establish a baseline of the current rate of outpatient, oral antibiotic prescriptions for infections by age and diagnosis and to estimate the overall rate of appropriate, outpatient antibiotic prescriptions from 2013 to 2016.
