Hospital Separations (BC Ministry of Health)
consolidation - census geocodes
Medical Services Plan (BC Ministry of Health)
Consolidation file (BC Ministry of Health)
Research objective:

-To better collect mechanical and clinical complications in our arthroplasty population
-To identify from cases treated at VGH and UBCH any complications, revision procedures, as well as the indications for revision procedures that have taken place at any provincial facility outside of VGH and UBCH

-We are able to characterize the index procedure at VGH and UBCH through VCH data that includes case specific characteristics such as BMI, Age, Sex, side of joint for arthroplasty, patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) on Quality of Life (QOL)pre and post arthroplasty etc.

-Utilizing PopData BC's data, cases can be followed over time for readmissions, revisions, types of revisions (first, second, third etc), comorbidities, side of arthroplasty revision, reason for revision etc.

By matching Cases from VGH and UBCH to PopData BC's data we aim to better understand the predictors of Readmission and Revision, the rates, and the specific reasons for readmission for revision of Major Joint Arthroplasty.

The research question(s) can only be answered by VCH/UBCH cases and procedures being matched to PopData BC's data of Major Joint Arthroplasty as cases identified through VCH/UBCH data do not always return to VGH and UBCH for subsequent revisions and readmissions.
