Research Questions and Hypothesis:
This study will test the hypothesis that there is a relationship between specific genotype and outcome phenotype (specifically heart failure). We expect that these results will, in the future, allow us to identify those patients at increased risk and intervene earlier.

Improved understanding of genetic predictors of Heart Failure (HF) after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery should enhance perioperative risk stratification and suggest novel biology to target HF treatment and prevention.

Research Question: Is HF related hospitalization or death during the 5 years following isolated primary CABG surgery associated with genetic variability?
