Research objective: 

The overarching research question, Is there an optimal range of residential density for equitable healthy cities? To answer this question, I will conduct a study with the following sub questions:

RQ #1: What is the magnitude of Census Tract (CT) variations in residential density and mortality rates/life expectancy within and across CTs in British Columbia (BC)?

RQ #2: What is the relationship between residential density and mortality rates/life expectancies within and across CTs in BC? Are there optimal density ranges and are these findings consistent or different between CTs in BC?

Hypothesis: If mortality is related to density, then CTs with more people (e.g. higher residential density) will have higher mortality rates. Furthermore, if there is an 'optimal density level', then mortality rates will begin to drop off at a certain 'threshold' (e.g. 1800 residential units per square kilometre).
