The collection of personal information shall be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes identified by the organization. Information shall be collected by fair and lawful means.

Population Data BC does not engage in any primary Data collection activities.  Population Data BC holds Data collected by other public bodies and relies on those public bodies to collect the information by fair and lawful means.

In administering Data, Population Data BC requests only Data fields that are necessary for the fulfillment of its role in developing a resource for research purposes.  In Population Data BC’s role as administrator of Data for research purposes or the provision of services under a service agreement. Population Data BC will assist Researchers in requesting particular Data files via the Data Access Request, conduct data preparation, and provide only those Data in a Research Extract that have been expressly approved by the Data Steward(s).
